my trip to Germany turned into a round trip drive to Finland for no other reason than I happened to be "nearby".... 4500km round trip nearby...

Germany 2022
after getting kicked out of Finland, I returned to Germany for more cars and eight stitches from a scooter. Plus, I solved a rubix cube.
POSTING SOON
if you are interested in a lengthy *updated read, this is a telling of my personal experience being employed at one of the top rally teams in the US. it was quite the disappointment but, being fired on my birthday was the best gift I ever could have received.
*(3/22/26)
Well, I'm heading to Vermont tomorrow without the rally car. Luckily I will return in a few weeks to take it home finally! I love this car. It feels just right when sitting in it. I'm doing everything within my ability to follow my dreams and The Denver Doughnut Shop has really helped me in making them come true! They do incredible work, "world class", I've heard spoken before. I support that statement. The guys were nice enough to let me stop by and take care of things as I needed which was a huge help. Brian is so knowledgeable with motorsport and everyone of them are very talented fabricators. The cage is so tight to the chassis there seems to be so much room. It feels like a real race car. Actually, it IS a real race car. We have a solid motor for now but a new project is next on the list! Not for some time though, as we want to get this thing out and race. It has a feel of brand new despite a little mix up in appearance. This will be one fun machine!
In the meantime, Björn and will be able to get our house finally set up while we sort everything out. I haven't been able to move into my house yet so we are looking forward to our own place again. About time to get the garage and sim all set up next week!
We'll be back with some videos from the dyno! Maybe. Otherwise, I hope to put on the livery when I return to pick up. I can't wait to show it off! Keep an eye out for donuts!
Best of luck to everyone racing! Send it!
This week has been great! The car looks like (not) a cop car, now. And it was Björn's birthday yesterday!
We have gotten a lot accomplished. Fire suppression is complete, underbody is good to go and brakes and clutch are bled. Brian, Sam and Dennis at the Doughnut Shop have been killing it. They were finishing up on the false floors and foot plates when I last saw them Thursday afternoon. It looks like the switch panel will be in too, then I can finish up the last tid bits of wiring. I've been having to order a lot of last minute parts but they are almost all in. Luckily, my brother and I were able to salvage both windscreens from the old car. Team work makes the dream work, yeah? I finally let him rip off the carbon fiber spoiler that he hated so much. I saved it for him. See? I'm a good brother. It did take it's share of flesh on the way out though.
One of the issues I ran into was with the power steering hoses. I ordered the Mooresport hose kit for the rack. First, unlike the pictures, it doesn't come with a straight fitting for one of the hoses. The rack has a 90 degree fitting out the side (which is a 12X1.0mm thread!) so a banjo isn't ideal. Secondly, they ask you to get the ends crimped by a professional shop to 12mm. I tried two shops, who won't crimp outside hoses. Needless to say, I ended up measuring and clocking the hoses and ordering another set. That will be one of the types of things I intend to provide a FULL, no hassle solution to. I have already started putting together a full power steering kit for any Subaru. (and something I'm really excited about!)
Anyway, I really love the set up of this car. It also has so much potential for the future growth and any opportunities we encounter. Since the car isn't getting a new paint job, it may appear somewhat cop car color. So I've heard. Pretty excited to get the livery on it. Cop car with donuts. Grady and I did put the first official stickers on, though. Check out our "E"s! I feel really good about our saftey in the event of a fire. Brian was really instrumental in pointing out key areas to my attention. We've (they) made an awesome rally car. Our last remaining items are mounting provisions for cockpit items, jack, tool roll, spare, etc. in addition to windows and cage padding. Unfortunately, the ECU wasn't ordered until this past week which has a 3-4 week lead time.
Since I have to wait for an ECU, I will have to drive home to Vermont once the Doughnut Shop is done. So an extra round trip to pick it up once the tuner finishes up. At least I have to look forward to a real bed, my own space and plenty of room for the dog! I really need to sort out what to do with the old chassis as well. I will be driving from Denver to Vermont so if you have interest, contact me and we can chat.
Hoping to be posting more as I can with everything going on. Off to sort out some Amazon packages and keep watching Ogier lead WRC Mexico while Semenuk and McKenna battle in the 100 Acre Wood. Best of luck to everyone! ttfn.
Well, we're a little behind. But, that's all good, these things take time and always more than anticipated. Either way it is getting assembled pretty quick. Everything is looking pretty awesome. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to paint the whole thing white. So all the body panels might still be black. Brian said it would be like a cop car. Plus donuts??? What do we think? I'm really excited about the donuts I got from Sticker Phantom but might want to save them for an all white car. We'll see...
We are all really excited to get this car out, well, I'm excited enough to make me feel like everyone is. What can you do? Mofab has been incredibly patient with our schedule and awesome to work with already! The gang at the Doughnut Shop have been killing it with their quality and attention to detail! I believe I am going to be so satisfied with this car. I'm dying to get it on stage and show it off! Anyway, it looks like we should be ready to get to the tuner very soon! Last step before I prep it for The Southern Ohio Forest Rally on June 8-10. Looking forward to some notable stages with this new sequential transmission!
I'm still working out how to do this website and blog thing. I'll figure it out soon enough and make it better. We'll get there, I promise.
Welcome to my first blog entry. My first blog ever, actually. Here we go!
Hello from Donut Motorsports LLC! Thanks for checking us out. I know the site is still being worked and our rally car is still without wheels but you made it anyway. Allow myself to introduce.... myself.... I'm Jordan O'Connell and the proud owner and operator of this venture. And I'm here because I'm passionate about rally and motorsport. (and donuts, allegedly) I have plenty of stories to share of how I got here and why but, we'll save those for another time. This is just a friendly introduction. Hi.
I'm not generally good at this type of thing but I look forward to getting better at it with everyone reading. I figure this is a good place to share our product design progress, car builds, rally event updates, and whatever else we think of!
As of today, our Donut2 rally car chassis is painted! She's all white and ready for assembly. We have made so many cool and convenient features in this chassis that we can't wait to show this thing off! I will be highlighting the build details at a later date in the Donut2 Build Blog. This week will be spent getting it all assembled for the tuner next week!
